Removing
drapes from an opening is to be avoided, if for no other
reason than the fabric's inclination to wrinkle when crumpled or
folded. Even when carefully lain across a bed for instance,
flowing lines and folds are easily impaired by their own
weight.
It
makes little sense then to further compromise such materials
by subjecting them to the rigors of transport and handling
by a cleaner. The same is doubly true for window coverings
made of delicate fabrics. Or when prolonged periods of
exposure to heat, humidity and sunlight have hastened the
development of tender areas from oxidation.
Additionally,
the very nature of the traditional in-plant method can
damage, and even destroy certain drapes with its
concentrated solvents and rigorous handling. |
